Answer
Use email address from hosting account.
Make sure you're using the correct SMTP settings for your mail server.

Using my gmail acc for it.
Show us the content from the system mail log in tools/maintenance. If you're using your Gmail, the issue is probably there. Gmail accounts aren't meant to be used for what you're doing - once your forum gets large enough to have a decent stream of email being sent out, you'll run into issues. I'd recommend Mandrill which is meant for this kind of thing and isn't too limited.
Make sure it isn't going into spam
also can you check that if you send a thread to one of your email addresses if it gets there. This should see if the SMTP is at fault.
Also you could turn on PM notifications, create a dummy user and then send a PM to yourself, if you get the email notification then I would circle back to having the users check their spam
