I noticed when signing up you have an age restriction. I was wondering how to enable that on my site. There is a lot of GP-13 content in anime and I don't want little kids running around my site. I also wonder if I change the minimum age as a number of anime that make it into the states are 16 plus. I know users can lie about their age but I hope this stops some or them.
There are options with COPPA where you can deny users under 13. There isn't a setting to deny users under a certain age beyond that. I believe this is handled in the inc/datahandlers/user.php file. You could edit that or use a plugin if you want to change the required age from 13 to a higher value.
I suggest you use COPPA.
Both suggestions are great ideas, otherwise having a couple kids on there is no problem(unless if it's something adult orientated)

Ooo, I like that one. What happens to the young users that got in before I set that up of it I have to raise the bar at some point? Does it leave existing users alone? It looks like it does.

Most likely wont target them
. But you can always lock them out by changing there password xD or move them to a diffrent group.
I see it gives me three choices for what to do with underage users when they sign up. No action, stop registration, and block from forum completely. Would the last one ban their IP or would it just locked you out like if you entered the wrong password to many times? I would have tested this but I didn't want to get IP banned from my own site. I also do want to stop them if, when they are older, want to try again.
