We have a clubs/social groups system on our forum. Converting to XF will make us lose a significant amount of this. I'm wondering would it be possible to merge these posts into a board set for them so we don't lose the content?

I'm fine with thread topics being changed to: [CLUBNAME] Thread Topic or something

You could possibly have it so each group becomes a forum. Alter permissions accordingly.

Anything honestly works. We have a fair bit of great topics in this. If we have to lose it so be it. But, I just want to make sure we can do everything we possibly can. ^_^

Is this a custom software you are currently using? I would say go with dragonexpert's advice and make the groups forums and topics posts. If it's something you can't write the importer yourself, you can request a mod developer make one for you.

We're currently using XenForo. This is an addon on XenForo, but, it's not stored in the threads/posts table and it's a separate table. So, yes, kind of custom .

There's no feature to move them to posts or to a board sadly on the XF software . We don't mind losing them. But, if we do it wouldn't be bad.

I have an xF license, would you mind sending me a link to the mod your using? Maybe I can setup an import it.

It's not a big concern if we lose the content. It's not a majority of our content.
