Will MyBB 1.8 have any edit post history, so we can actually see why the user has edited his/her post? vBulletin I'm pretty sure has this feature, and it is a handy one to have.
There is indeed a feature in MyBB 1.8 for users to list a reason of why they edited their post - however as I remember it isn't mandatory, and you can't see the actual edit history, if that's what you mean.

No I mean a History Log, showing what they wrote before, and what they wrote after, to be able to see the changes. Because often, people edit their posts in forums and when a dispute breaks out, it's hard to tell who was right or wrong, because they constantly edit their posts, and the Admin can't see the History Log of their previous edits.

vBulletin has this feature, I'm pretty sure. And I think someone even made a plugin for 1.6 with this exact feature.

mybb 1.8 not has this feature and i disagree with this idea.
Because this request large space of database.

Better use something this http://community.mybb.com/thread-49436.html where when someone report post create copy of post in "another private folder".

I use in my forum and work very well...

Realistically, that plugin that creates a new thread for reported posts would use more database space then showing edit history. Nevertheless, IMO the edit history would be better off as a plugin than a core feature.

what...
you must be confusing things.

edit history save all post edits of all user. If user make 4 edits in one post, samething created 4 posts. Regardless of whether it was reported or not.
Report post only make copy of post reported. And after the case has resolved the moderators can easily erase the topic at hand.

Pretty sure you'd be able to save what is changed and highlight that in the history.

what you're saying is if...
if user change one letter of post, of course, not will use large of space.
but if user change all thing of post is double of contents to save.

I don´t know how work in xenforo... But if save in same column (message column), this will cause more server load when use search system. Because has more contents in column.

If save in other table, it is also something to think about too. Mean, before saving when someone edit post will have to do a comparison before writing in another table and register the change of made in post. Needless to say that it requires a lot of server ...

Honestly I can not see this system as something healthy. Especially for those who have large forum.

Yes, which is why I stated in my last post that a functionality like that would be better off in a plugin as it's not highly desirable for the majority of users.
Great, thank you for letting me know that it isn't feasible to add this as a core feature. I have no idea about tables, or anything like that. A plugin already exists for this, and hopefully the owner will update it to work with 1.8 when it gets released.
