We recently upgraded from myBB 1.6.0.8 to 1.6.13.
In both these versions we only now noticed that users cannot update their profiles because the Location field (which they complete during registration) is missing.
We have tried allocating a new user account to different groups but that didnt help. There are some users who have all their profile fields including the Location field.
Please advise.
Two things here
1 - You can change the field to not required, and edit its other properties under the Admin CP
Go to Admin CP >> Configuration >> Custom Profile Fields
Make sure it isn't hidden, if you don't need it you could make it so it is not required as well, and this will also fix your issue
2 - This is most like an old template that you are using that does not display the fields. If you turn on the default mybb 1.6.13 theme/template and use that as one user, does the location field show up?
If so the problem is cause by outdated theme/template that doesnt have these fields, there are probably other locations throughout your forum that are missing these and likely there will be other templates and template parts missing, as well as security issues in some templates.
So ultimately I would look at getting yourself on the latest and updated templates.
Thank you Dannymh. You pointed me in the right direction.
The problem was a configuration issue on the custom profiles where by the Location field was a required field, however, it was set to only be shown if a user had more than 15 posts which would prevent new users from being able to update their profile.
So myBB was working correctly, the problem was how these fields were configured.
