It would be nice to extend this for specific forum/category. Now we can set only password or show/hide the forum for specific group of users...
So with this you can show restricted forum to visitors which are not logged in and force them to login/register to your forum.
This functionality is in phpBB for example - you are redirected to login/registration page when you click to restricted forum.
