Seems like a bug.
Replace line 274 in jscripts/dvz_shoutbox.js to:

            document.cookie = cookiePrefix+'dvz_sb_status='+(+status)+'; path='+cookiePath+'; max-age=31536000';

Looks really nice. Great job. Maybe add some notification when a new thread and/or reply has been posted .... perhaps that is only relevant if it is made into a more-chatlike thing which it seems you are going to do.
