and maybe no need hard work to do that.
there is some plugins for 1.6 but that not good enough and this may good as core.

I support this feature. I had the buddy list plugin on my 1.6 forum but it required a lot of template editing to get it working just right. I think a buddy list on the profile would be great. After disabling additional profile fields the entire right side of the profile will be empty: http://i.imgur.com/wG7t7PD.png I think if a buddy list is added it should be put on the right. I doubt this will be added though because 1.8 is featured locked atm.

This was brought up in this thread for 2.0. It's mostly leaning towards a no, from the looks of it.

Either way, would not be acceptable to show people you added to your buddy list on your profile since it's unilateral. It should only show people who agreed to be your friend.

Since buddy list has no valuable functions I don't think there's a point to adding this feature.

MyBB 1.8 introduced buddy invitations...

As for buddies on profile - nothing against it, but there is a plugin that does it (almost) perfectly.
