It still doesn't help.

Do you think it may be anything to do with these error logs?

If so what?
Reverse those changes you made
Try re-uploading the core files again.

The fact that it cannot find init.php is pretty telling

What happens if you upload a test instance on the same server under say /public_html/testforum

does that run ok?
