Then you heard wrong. A browser needs to be able to read the CSS, and if the browser can then any user can.

In a few words: You can't.
There are some improvements for that, trying to "hide" the css with more css and more css, but at the end, you can have the original stylesheet.
If you want to have "protection", spend some money on copyright, or at least DMCA (But I'm not sure if DMCA it's the same, I don't think so).
