Hi,
There are a lot of hard-coded words in upgrade files (install/resources/upgrade*.php)
I think we should move this words to install language file :-\
That'd be hard to do (too many) and very useless (who updates from 1.2/1.4 to 1.8?)
But we can move the words of new upgrade files to language files.
Hmm, we could try that but normally you don't have much things in an upgrade script (expect 1.8 now). 1.6.15 doesn't have an upgrade at all. IMHO there isn't the need to translate these few things. But lets see what others think about this.
Why not, maybe in future there would be a multilanguage updater
2.0 will use a completly new language system which should make this really easy and we can simply do it there. But for 1.x? The next releases won't be as big as the current one and even the current one doesn't have that much language strings. If you really want to translate them you could edit the upgrade file(s) (simply search for an "echo").
@king louis but edit core files is not good! :-\
Normally, but the upgrade scripts are only executed once so there's no problem with overriding them. But as said: lets hear what others think.
There's no problem with the upgrader being in English. The administrator must understand a bit of English in order to download MyBB from the main site. Also they must understand English in order to find where to download the translations and how to upload them etc.

This is a major no-no from me. In 2.0 (as it is a full rewrite) all outputted words/phrases/information will be translatable.
Jordan: Some communities like the german one provide their own downloads already with included language files Wink
