Does anyone have any idea for when gold is going to be released?
There is no announced date. They only have two open issues left for the 1.8.0 milestone on Github, so I'd be surprised if it's more than week out.
There isn't a set date, so nobody really knows exactly when it will be released.
I would hazard a guess and say it will be end of month or September at the rate the Beta releases were being published, that's if they don't do Release Candidates (typically "not quite finished, but initial development is done" type phase where its kind of like a "last minute bug check and fix"). Beta 3 I think is the last beta release, since they started requesting upgrade tests and bug reports (in a [stable] development environment of course).
I don't know but I already started working on my plugins for 1.8
It serves the purpose of testing new features in 1.8 too haha
