Do you mean the theme? Or the way it works, like the Admin CP etc.
The Admin CP is myBB is kind of like phpBB, it's actually easier and more efficient. Just read the mybb wiki and you should get the hang of it. However, if you're really don't get it, then install myBB on another section of your site for testing purposes and play around with it, until you get it.
As for the theme, the phpBB theme is not very appealing...the default myBB theme looks better. However, if you really want it, request it in the template section.
