How do I change the post author on MyBB 1.6 so it shows up for forum list and thread. Also what is the way of updating post counts when I've done this.
Are you saying you want to show thread author's avatar in threadlist? If so please feel free to check this topic:

Change uid and username of your post in ".TABLE_PREFIX."posts, then recount in ACP

You may try asking in
Plugin Requests Forum and maybe someone will create it.
You have to update both the posts and threads table to change the author. If you want the author to also be correct on index.php, you may need to edit the forums table also.
