I imported my forum's database into localhost and tried upgrading it to 1.8.... in the "Updating Database" screen it was loading for quite a while and came up with this error....

IIRC,
maxoptions column does not exist by default in earlier versions of MyBB

This is caused by the 1.8 part of the update
i can confirm that the fix works... i have now successfully upgraded to 1.7.2...... thanks @Jones H
