What gzip setting will give me best compression with less problems?

What seems to the the problem here? I have gzip set to 9 and yet Insights and this site say that I need more compression:

Setting gzip in the MyBB settings only compresses PHP output, not other assets. You need to set the web server to compress them instead, I think you set it through your .htaccess file.

MYBB seems have pretty good compression.

Please could anyone post a guide on how to enable .htaccess gzip compression for MYBB?

Thanks guys so much. Was something wrong with php.in had to ask hosting provider to fix it
