There seem to be some plugins (such as event log and user tagging) that have problems when a user's name has an apostrophe or a quote (the ' and the " character)  in their username.  How can I make it so those characters are not accepted in a user name at sign up or when they change their username?

you can try using strict username plugin to restrict user names to regular alphanumeric characters

Thanks guys I will try these out and see which one works best for what I'm trying to accomplish.
