There isn't much information about phpBB 4. In fact, it seems that it may not even happen.

There isn't much information about MyBB 2.0 either at this point. A lot of consideration is being put into the UI though. We just released 1.8 anyway, I guess you could say 2.0 development will only be starting now.

And in my opinion, MyBB 2.0 won't be a total rewrite either, because that would mean a total incompatibility between MyBB's history, and MyBB's future, everything would break. It would rather be a gradual improvement of the software.

2.0 will use a framework and it will be a complete rewrite. Nothing will be compatible. The only link between MyBB 1.8 and MyBB 2.0 is that you'll be able to upgrade to 2.0 from 1.8.
And the name of course.
phpbb 3.1 is a joke. they haven't even released stable 3.1 yet mybb have released stable 1.8

in the end you'll always see that mybb is better than phpbb in every single way.

Quote:MyBB 2.0 has been written from scratch in a MVC (Model-View-Controller) method and we’ve been using Yii as its base framework.
This is probably what's confusing people.
Also, that blog post makes MyBB 2.0 sound amazing. What's amazing? Who knows.

I don't think there's anything confirmed about MyBB 2.0 at all Toungue

Quote:2.0 will use jquery
A WYSIWYG editor will be included
There will be modal boxes in 2.0
I thought that these features already exist in MyBB 1.8?
