When I enter a subdomain name such as www(dot)example(dot)com, it is automatically converted to http://www(dot)example(dot)com.
I cannot type "." in preceding sentence without triggering this conversion and have used "(dot)" instead. However:
(1) The discussion may be about treatment of www sub-subdomain vs. non-www domain name. The automated conversion frustrates ability to say what you mean
(2) The conversion presumes http protocol. Https is increasingly important and prefixing http further frustrates the conversation
