Hi guys,

Am new to Mybb a friend recommend this forum and I really appreciate the support have seen so far.

I want to create a from page that will have some selected topics posted to the page where user can easily get latest hot topics, and have the links that will take them to the treads

how do i go ABOUT IT? check out the picture attached

I have good knowledge of html css and some php, i need to be guided as to the file to edit to make this happen and if you have any code that can do something similar and require adjustment from me i will appreciate it

MyBB forum system has a portal page and it can be used as the home page or you can make a custom home page.
example page for MyBB portal => http://community.mybb.com/portal.php
MyBB portal can consist of recent topics from specific forums AND/OR you can manually put required content

below is the default structure template for the portal and it can be modified as required
admin panel >> templates >> forum's active theme templates >> portal templates >> portal

I have an idea of what you want.
Use: Announcement (2.4.1) plugin,
Set it to appear only on your index page,
paste multiple links of your topics as announcements.
Style it with in in-built css styler.
I've tested it. It worked perfectly.

that will be after installing portal, then i will use the announcement plugin
