that did not work either (which was what I did in the first place) what other pre requests have I missed ? however can you explain in which order mybb parses the template ... does it wait for each sub template to be loaded then parse it to make replacements or does it parse each sub template then add the parsed content to the overall content ? dependant on your answer I can perhaps see the answer to my problem ..... maybe it would be better to create a plugin that uses the 'pre_output_page' hook, alters the output and then allows mybb to render it ... this is a get around however it does not solve why mybb does not handle it in the first place
