run file verification tool available at tools & maintenance section of admin panel.
focus is on missing / changed files from jscripts folder & its sub-folders. ignore
images reported from other folders. ignore files reported from install folder.
post result here.
you can change Editor Style at the Theme Properties and check if it fixes referred issue

replaced function.php with 1.8 function.php and then verification system ask no file changes found
