Is it possible to implent recaptcha on mybb 1.8?

Admin CP -> General Configuration -> CAPTCHA Images for Registration and Posting -> set to reCaptcha
Then enter the Public and Private Keys.

It doesn't show CAPTCHA images... option in my ACP tho its 1.8.

^ exactly which version of MyBB you are using ?

run file verification tool from below location. what does it report ?
admin panel >> tools & maintenance >> file verification
ignore reported images & ignore files reported from install folder & its sub-folders
