I am trying to get my forum started for my Gmod community and I have never used photoshop before and went in messing with it, does this look to bad?

I think it looks perfectly fine. I love the font and color you've used. The only thing that looks weird is the background gradient behind your slogan, but I'm not sure how that looks in front of your header background.

The gradient looks better behind the background. Logo looks nice to me.
