Can anyone tell me how to make staff names appear in the correct color within the 'Last Post' box when a staff member has posted?

you can use Style Usernames plugin

Last post box? Is this on the index or on the post bit? More information would help me out to help you out.

Index page > Right hand Column > 'Last Post'
