Hello,

First, I backed up my forum/db files. Then, I upgraded from 1.8 to 1.8.1 using the "changed files package." I followed the instructions very carefully and performed the actions listed here: http://docs.mybb.com/1.8/install/upgrade/ . I then clicked on www.MyDomain/forum/install and saw this:

Index of /forum/install

Parent Directory
images/
lock
resources/
upgrade.php

(By the way, the lock file was not present, it asked me to add it on the /forum homepage when I checked it.)

So, it did not really give an error but did not do anything  Sad

All help is greatly appreciated!

TIA,

DukeURL
You're missing the install/index.php file. However as you're running an upgrade you can also simply access yourdomain.com/install/upgrade.php (remove the lock file before doing so)
Hi Jones H,

I followed your suggestions and the forum/install/upgrade.php page states:

/home/MyUsername/public_html/Mydomain.com/forum/install/resources///language.lang.php does not exist

Any other suggestions?
Try reuploading the complete "install" folder from a fresh download.
I am having the same problem. Something seems seriously out of whack.

I tried Jones H. solution but there is no "install" folder in the complete download. In fact a lot of files seem to be missing from the complete download. There are more php files in the toplevel directory of the changeset than there are in the fresh download's Upload directory.
The full download packages have two folders: "Upload" and "Documentation" and the "Upload" contains all files, including the install directory. I've upgraded and installed already a few boards with both packages and everything went smoothly.
Where are you getting the full package? I am getting it from thie link: "full 1.8.1 Release Package" http://resources.mybb.com/downloads/mybb_1801.zip from this page: http://blog.mybb.com/2014/10/23/mybb-1-8...1-release/ and it definitely doesn't have an "install" directory.
Thanks Jones H! I re-extracted the files and re-uploaded all of them (a lot were missing!) It works now...
Open zip -> "Upload" -> it's there. Directly opened your link.
Thought I was loosing my mind. Turns out that 1) the archive manager that Thunar is using in Debian 7 is broken and it wasn't fully decompressing the package! and 2) someone just updated the changed_files_1801.zip package -- I was using that for comparison not realizing that, so you can imagine just how surreal things started to seem -- until I noticed the file sizes were different on the package I download this morning and the one I just downloaded. I hope that was just the install files missing as I already did the upgrade using the older package.
