Hi, your host name and email are not correct, Gmail is not a valid host, and your email should be an account created through your server mail.

Areyou using cpanel? If so I can guide you through the steps to correct it.
Yes i got cpanel. Can you make a quick step-by-step guide?

You can use gmail? Really, okay thanks for correcting me and clarifying the issue, as well as the extra tip, I guess I just learned something new, but that is what the forum is for, learning. Thanks again!

Yes, I prefer cpanel.

#1 Your SMTP host needs to be: mail.yourdomain.com

#Use port 25

#3 open cpanel and create a new email account that matches your admin email
your admin email should be
[email protected]

let me know what happens!
Google should work, yes. But it doesn't. niether with these settings:

I had no luck with cpanel set up as well. Can it be a bug in the new 1.8.1?

Is it required, that my admin user use the same mail as my SMTP?
Hey bud,
it was hard for me to get it set up, it took me two days to figure it out.
your password must be your cpanel password, not your admin password,
your admin email must be your cpanel email, this is for cpanel setup,

myself, I even contacted my host company and asked them for my SMTP info
and they sent it to me,
let us know how it goes so we can help you get this going!

Here is an article for google setup
http://yaldaram.com/thread-243.html

Let us start by creating an email accountin cpanel,

Okay so now we are creating an email account in cpanel,
Very *IMPORTANT: the password you create here is the password that you
use on the SMTP setup page.

Okay cool, lets see if you can get it going now, if you have any issues, please let me know and we will continue to get you set up! Good luck!
Well written guide, though. But im still struggling. Doesn't seems to work.

The build in PHP mail handler works fine. Didn't expect that!
Cool! I'm glad you have it working, one way or another Big Grin
From now, i'll beginwith simple thoughts. im done starting complicated for no reason :-D
