Hi,

I have had someone sign up to my forum with what looks like a spam email address.

I thought the Image Verification was supposed to stop spam on the registration page?!?

Have you had spam before? Do you delete spam accounts?

What should I do? I am new to this and am not sure whether I should let spam accounts count up in my list of members in the forum..

Captchas are not that effective at blocking automatted signups anymore. I recommend using the Purge Spammer feature to get rid of them.

You thought wrong then. Captchas can be read by any more or less advanced spambots that use Optical Character Recognition techniques.

You shouldn't rely on them, rather:
- enable Stop Forum Spam (only if you're using 1.8.1, upgrade to this version is recommended)
- enable and add unique security questions
