Hi, I have 2 question in mind:

(1) I was wondering will I lose all the data(threads/posts) if I were to use switch to a new theme?

(2) How to back up all the data(threads/posts) of the forum?

You will not lose any data by installing a new theme. You can back up the database to be safe, either via phpMyAdmin or from ACP > Tools & Maintenance > Backups.
