I know MyBB in itself is a pretty quick software but is there anything I can do to speed it up a bit? I'm currently hosted on a VPS with Cpanel if that helps you. Thanks everyone.

Using Nginx rather than Apache will speed things up slightly, as will using an up-to-date PHP version (either 5.5.x or even 5.6.x). If you're only just starting out though, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
Also, if you post your site's URL it will be easier to analyse any possible slow down points.
