hi
i want to upgrade to 1.8
but if i replaced all the files in the upload folder from 1.8
i will lose everything i add to my forum
themes ..plugins...jq...etc

for example
the 
plugins  folder in the 1.8
has only hello.php
but my plugin folder in the 1.6.13
has a lot of things

how can i upgrade without touching any of my old things

themes and plugins coded for earlier versions of MyBB are not compatible with MyBB 1.8.x
if you need to use them then you have to find updated versions. or you have to try updating.

basically folders should be accessible (in general, CHMOD 755)
