I have had problems with my website and my host has said that there an "anomalous behaviour of task.php which is eating up all my CPU resources".
I have just upgraded to 1.8.1 from 1.6.10 to see whether that would solve the problem, but it doesn't look like that.

I am not even sure of what to ask... do you know of instances when task.php behaves badly?
task.php unfortunately is used to run variety of scheduled tasks. Could you go to ACP > Tools & Maintenance > Scheduled tasks and post a screenshot of the enabled tasks? Also, it may be worthwhile asking your host for details of when the CPU peaks running task.php so we might be able to track down the exact task causing issues.
Hi Euan,

here it is, although bear in mind that I have just upgraded (perhaps a mistake...)

I will ask for the details in the meantime
Don't see anything out of the ordinary apart from the ones at the top with missing language files. If you click on "Details" next to them then go into edit, can you see which file they're running and how often?
They seem to be all the same.
Here is a screenshot of one.

Are they supposed to be all identical?
No, there should only be one for each task. That's likely what the problem is. Try deleting them so there is only one task using "rssfeedposter.php".
OK, done, although the situation has not improved yet. If that was the problem it may take some time for the change to circulate (perhaps...).

I wonder whatever happened to the language file...
