I agree. What happened to the old mailing list? It's a very effective way to get information out.

I agree. What happened to the old mailing list? It's a very effective way to get information out.

We killed it mid 2012 when we shuffled things around. IIRC there were issues with it too. I'm sure there will be a mailing list again in the future, likely handled via a third party.
Given the above, should we all (hacked or not) rebuild the cache of update_check? (not hacked afaik but did this anyway)

The script no longer exists on the remote server so there's no threat.
We're discussing the use of a Newsletter/Maillist internally.

this is definitely useful for getting out very important information to the user base in a timely manner.
