So I have mybb link setup to open "View Today's Post" and everyday I have to reset the link because I get
"An invalid search was specified. Please go back and try again"

When you do a search MyBB gets the results and caches them, then redirects you to a page viewing the cached results. Every so often it clears out the cached results table to stop it getting massive.
You'd need to bookmark/auto-open search.php?action=getdaily instead of the results page.
