is the version update necessary after i moved my forum and data base
to other host now i find this

You are currently running MyBB 1.8.2 whilst the latest generally available release is MyBB 1.8.3 (1803).


and i`m worry if i do the update i lose the database like what happen when i tried to update phpbb3 one before i start to use mybb forums i changed from phpbb3 to mybb for the Editor reason
so is it necessary to update or not and how i make sure if i like to update no data will be
 losing thanks a lot and sorry for my dumb questions i was on forumotion service so i don`t have much skills

I'm a little confused by the question.

In general, not all upgrades are really considered as necessary, but as this particular upgrade to 1.8.3 is a major security upgrade, it's pretty important to attempt the upgrade. Luckily, no upgrade script is needed, so the process should be fairly straightforward. Smile
Yes, you should always upgrade to the latest stable release. You can read about the changes on the blog: http://blog.mybb.com/

You won't lose any data, but you should always create backups as stated in the upgrade document.

okay if this gonna be for my site security i think im gonna do the risk of update

i have downloaded the file and i uploaded the files as
its show only 1.8.0 and lower

yes but is it will make mybb lower from 1.8.2 to 1.8.0 ?
^ are you sure that you have uploaded files of MyBB 1.8.3 ?

above posted image refers to already installed MyBB version (1.8.0) and it is upgrading to MyBB 1.8.2

this was the main file i used
mybb_1803.zip
this the file i just downloaded to update
and my forum is say in admin panel 1.8.2 not 1.8.0

If it shows the wrong version number you haven't overwritten the files correctly.

i forget to upload the rest of files Sleepy
ill try again after re upload the whole files i did not see step number 1
