Last night I upgraded to 1.8. Everything went okay except that almost all my images are now missing. I have checked to see if they exist and I have also made sure the "images" directory is writable. So any thoughts on how to make this work?

exactly from which MyBB version you have upgraded and to which version ?
png type images and sprite images are used in MyBB 1.8.x - earlier versions have gif & jpg images.

you can install a new good looking compatible theme for MyBB 1.8.x & use it

I upgraded from 1.6.14, and if I change the file extensions, the images will show?
^ images might be visible - but earlier version's theme might not work
upgrading guidance Wrote:Visit your Admin Control Panel, then go to Templates & Style > Templates > Find Updated Templates. This will show you a list of all the templates that have changed during the upgrade.

You can either revert these templates to their default - meaning all the changes you've made to it will be removed - or you can see a Diff Report which will show you exactly what's changed. If you have a custom theme installed, it is probably best that you look at the Diff Report and apply the changes you need.

simple method is to install a new theme compatible with MyBB 1.8.x and use it

Also, it's not recommended to use 1.6 themes in 1.8, especially if it's Apart.. Sooner or later you'll notice more problems because of that, for example try registering on your forum - you'll be detected as spammer because of outdated templates.

So you may want to switch to the default theme (which is based on Apart) or download a 1.8 compatible theme from here: http://community.mybb.com/mods.php?actio...ory=themes
