What is the difference between the
  • "Confidence level", which means that "a user generating a level higher than that will be denied registration, and
  • the mimum weighting "before deciding a user is a spammer"?

None. Apart from the fact that one is from a plugin you shouldn't have installed in 1.8 (now if you uninstall it, all settings will disappear due to name conflict) and one is from the 1.8 core.

I don't have the Stop Forum Spam plugin installed actually (checked via ACP -> Plugins, and among files in inc/plugins). Are these settings leftovers in the database? I had upgraded from 1.6.15 and haven't installed any plugins since.

Which settings should I ignore? A screenshot of a core-only SFS would be helpful.
