I so far have one admin account, but when trying to make a new member I go to registration, click on I agree to the agreement, but then get this message:
This webpage is not available

The webpage at http://www.ltpne.co.uk/member.php might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

The permissions for member.php were 644, I changed them to 744 but it still doesn't work. Anyone got any ideas of what's wrong?

Try turning Gzip off in the configuration in ACP

try disabling GZip compression or decrease its level (level 3 should work fine)
admin panel >> configuration >> settings >> Server and Optimization Options --> Use GZip Page Compression

do you have any plugins which affect member profile (eg. selecting country)

I had to disable Gzip altogether to make it work. Great result thanks very much guys.
