MyBB Community Forums - Avatar Upload Error

Hi. I know that some threads mentioned the directory being a problem and some threads mentioned CHMOD & changing 777 somewhere. I'm a newbie and I'm having major major issues with avatar uploads right now.

I've tried searching for what CHMOD is & how to apply it but there are too many results with the CHMOD & broken up info. A guide need to be a sticky thread on here about what exactly CHMOD is what does it do & how it works with pictures.

Problem: We are receiving a message saying that 'The avatar Url is not correct. Try a valid URL' (or something Similar) or when we try and upload it just says that the upload failed.

Error messages: When uploading:

1. You should update MyBB at least to 1.6.16 as soon as possible if you don't want to get hacked (especially that you shared your URL).

Omg, Destroy666 I do apologize I am on the latest version of mybb 1.8.3 im not sure why I thought 1.6.8 Can you move this thread back to 1.8.3 support? I need help with this asap

ACP -> Configuration -> Attachment Types. Do you have image extensions like .png or .jpg there?

Also run ACP -> Tools & Maintenance -> File Verification and show the result here.

Im trying to follow the link you gave me but I don't see any folders anywhere on changing this for the avatar. Can someone kinda walk me through it with pictures? I am using firezilla via ftp with access to the whole directory.

I figured out the problem. What the issue was is the /uploads folder did not exist in my directory. so I created one & right clicked on it & changed file attributes.
