I am using MyBB 1.8.3 and someone posted a thread in the wrong section. When I moved it to the correct section and tried to post in it, it said that I could not make the post because the thread did not exist. But it was appearing the section it was moved to. I don't have the exact error message as I deleted the thread because thankfully, the user created a new thread before I moved it. But that is pretty much what it said.

But eventually I'm going to have to move threads in the future as this when inevitably happen again.

Any ideas as to the cause?

With only these details and no topic to reproduce and test it - no. Might be a plugin issue or a MyBB bug. Rather the 1st, I saw a similar topic not so long ago that was caused by a plugin that displayed additional group images.
