I am a member of many forums and therefore use many different forum software apps. I believe this is the first MyBB I am using. How is it so fast? Are you using brand new MS 2007 server software with several quad-core servers?
How is it so fast? Well, it's built on a language that is fast to begin with and then we try and optimize to make sure MyBB stays fast.
Well congratulations on such a fete! I am now trying to convince an Admin under whom I am a moderator to switch to MyBB. He is using phpBB now. Can I tell him it is not very hard to change from phpBB software or is it?
I have converted successfully very large phpbb forums to mybb without no loss of data. NONE...avatars, posts, PM,and just about everything else gets transferred.

If you need assistance I am cheap and quick. I also do skins and can modify any existing phpbb template to mybb. Here are some example sites I did.

http://www.360forum.com
http://www.pspforums.com/forum/
http://www.nintendogstalk.com
http://www.animalcrossingforum.com

All of them were phpbb.
labrocca, might I ask which system you were using to convert? If its the Merge System your talking about then it should be the way to go for him. Otherwise the unofficial converter is probably his best bet right now.
MyBB is fast.

Moreover the guys who are developing this cannot do everything so maybe you should add some tweaks of your own to it and make it more faster.

I have been using it since last 15 months and have modified and read most of the code in it atleast 10 times.

This gives me proper understanding of the code and I have made it work with custom things that I wanted in it.

If you're referring to this specific forum (MyBB Community Forums), I'm pretty sure this server isn't running on any Microsoft software at all. However it is a dedicated server owned by Chris Boulton, and he has optimized it quite well to make everything speedy fast Smile.

However, if you're talking about MyBB in general, the speed of MyBB will likely depend on the server specs and the network connection. If you try to run MyBB with something like an old 486 PC at home, with 512kB/s up, you're not likely to get as good performance.
