You can certainly try Facebook ads. That has a huge audience so if you have something unique to offer and the forum isn't dead it might be worth a few bucks to do so.

I've only heard good things from Reddit ads.

I usually don't click ads.. idk about ads

have some users who will post continuously good topics . and pay them after your forum is crowded by posts advertise them on many web platforms . remember "No promotion is Bad promotion"
