I set the option for SEO-friendly links to Enabled, but I get 404 errors when going to a forum or profile.

Error message:

Not Found

The requested URL /forums.morbidentree.com/member.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

And here's the .htaccess file:

How can I fix this?

are you using MyBB internal SEF URLs or Google SEO plugin ?

if you are using Google SEO plugin then it provides required rewrite rules to be added to .htaccess file
look at plugins page on forum admin panel. there Google SEO plugin should be having some instructions follow.

I'm only using the built-in one.

do you also have a .htaccess file at the home directory ?
if so, can you rename that as htaccess.20jan and check if forum links work normal ..

Did that and the error code changed slightly:

^ looks like direct links (eg.) are working. this issue needs to be checked.
