I have been holding off upgrading to 1.8, part;y because of the hassle involved but more because I use the
Email Notification on Registration plugin.

I can't find any reference to whether the plugin is supported in 1.8 or if the function is built in

Can anyone help?

If it's this one you're using http://mods.mybb.com/view/email-about-new-members I got it working fine.

Find

compatibility' => '14*,16*

Change to

compatibility' => '14*,16*,18*
