I used to use vbulletin and there was a plugin for blocking posters from certain time zones. It worked really well for spam protection for local forums.

I would like to be able to allow registrations from certain countries only. My site is hosted by an ISP so I doubt I can control the server firewall.
How could I use .htaccess for this? I have looked at the Apache docs and can't see anything except blocking by IP address. I'm not very familiar with any of this stuff, so I might be missing something obvious.
Can anyone help?

Just use the www.blocked.com software. It will block countries.
