This may have already been asked.
I have purchased an SSL certificate and would like the following to be encrypted.
- admin panel
- user PM's
- login/register pages
Any help would be much appreciated, I wouldn't like the whole forum encrypted just those pages as encrypting the whole forum doesn't make any sense to me.

It wouldn't make sense not to enable it everywhere, as in that case information like the session cookies would still go through unencrypted channel and could be used to hijack the session when intercepted.
You shouldn't be worried about the server's performance, especially if you don't run a heavy-traffic board.

That depends what your setup is...
Webhosting or VPS?
Apache or Nginx?
Etc etc...
