I am currently trying to restore my database for the new forum. My old forum was filled with bugs and I decided to start all over. I have a backup database compressed in a sql.gz file.

I tried importing the sql.gz file using phpMyAdmin, but I get this error:

I have no installed the new mybb yet. What do I need to do?

As the error says, you haven't selected any database in phpMyAdmin to which the backup should be imported.

make empty database and then upload files from phpMyAdmin

Ah! I didn't empty the database!
