Okay. That will be what I try next. I appreciate the suggestions. We want to try our best to use this theme with 1.8 before possibly installing 1.6 with this theme or finding a 1.8.X compatible theme. At this point, it seems as though the smilies are the only thing not working, so maybe it's not too far-fetched to think that this theme is compatible with 1.8.X with a few tweaks.

My issue with smilies are that they show up normally when posting in a thread. 
But NOT when trying to send a private message. The smilie box is there, but nothing happens when you click on them.
I've checked already settings for private messages and smilies and but are ok.

Also with quick reply they don't work.

Suggestions what to do?
