I can't find any comments on this, but is there a version of merge that would let me install 1.8 and then merge my 1.6.14 version instead of going through the whole upgrade process.  This would seem to be easier and less time consuming.  The merge worked pretty welll when I moved to myBB I would think a myBB to myBB would be a slam dunk.

Merge System 1.8 doesn't support merging MyBB 1.6 forums.

Too bad -- would make my life easier.

Why that? The upgrade process is even easier and as long as you'll use 1.8 compatible themes and plugins, you should be fine. And if you don't want to use them, merge wouldn't help in that case.
