Hi, wondering if anyone could help me figure this out. Looking for something which will auto embed a certain type of video on my 1.8 forum.

The above is an example of the type of url people will post. The one below is the same link but its been made so that it can be embeddable.

I need either or both to automatically show a video player so that people can watch the videos. If this can be done based on just the link great. Alternatively if it needs to be a mycode then i can live with that just cant figure out for the life of me how to get it to auto embed

Try using the plugin Automedia.  Your users only need to type the link and the plugin does the rest.

I got that plugin but for some reason it refuses to work

If you have gzip enabled in MyBB configuration and gzip is not set up on server it will not work. I had the same problem. I disabled gzip and it works ok now.
